OUCH! I am kind of living every day in slight fear of the bulb on our HD TV going out. We have and HP TV that uses a VERY expensive bulb. The bulb costs about 350.00 to replace and should last about 2-3 years. We are coming up to the one year mark on owning the TV. No to mention the model of our television is DISCONTINUED by HP and some people cannot find parts for the TV!
Argh We paid almost 4,000 for this TV because it was considered the best available. We had the light engine replaced under warranty last year- thank god- cost was 950. I have been reading posts on various forums and have read that you can;t even BUY a light engine for the TV anymore will have to verify, If this is true I will lose mind.
I was reluctant to purchase a TV for this much money. I remember when you could buy a TV for 500.00 and would last you 20 years. Not sure about this buy a TV for 3,000and have it last 3 years and/or be obsolete.
My friend husband has decided to go the DLP projector route. I think this may be an option for us as well. The way our media room is set up (and by media room I mean the room we have in our basement where TV is… ) would accommodate perfectly. There is no light and shape of room is perfect. I am been quite surprised at the picture quality. One good thing about one of the is the LCD projector bulb life and portability- if we move don’t have to worry so much abut size and shape of the new room.

Watching Movies on Blu-Ray - Which Are Good Ones To See?
Looks like Blu-Ray will win the HD war. SO I am glad I picked up that player. Still not that many titles available. Here are some Hi def movies worth watching.
Of course top of the list is the Planet Earth series- these are simply amazing. Nature shows like they should be done.
We watched “Curse of The Golden Flower” on the weekend and is was unbelievable. The movie was done by same director as hero and “House of Flying Daggers” . The movie itself was good- a solid 7/10 but the “look” was 10/10. Visually my favorite movie that I have seen in HD so far.
I am going to keep adding to the list as I see more movies.
Movies to Watch on Blu-Ray
Unforgiven
Sunshine
Pan’s Labrynth
Casino Royale ( exceptional sound)

Symptoms of Judder on Your 1080p HD TV
You are watching Blu-ray movie on your PlayStation 3 and there is distortion when screen pans.
BD-DVD ( Blu-Ray DVD) movie playback on your PS3 sometimes looks blurry in sections- like in a cityscape or wide shot anything with a screen pan .
The picture only looks wobbly in some scenes or some sections of the screen.
The problem only happens with a Blu-ray movie- not with games.
It only happens at only at 1080p display.
Why is it Happening?
The distortion is caused by Blue-Ray output being 24hz and TV being (usually) 60hz. The problem has a name “Judder” . SOme Newer TV’s now have 120hz and there is lots of controversy over whether this is necessary a gimmick or a way to get people to shell out more money.
There is a complicated reason why it happens having to do with 3:2 pull down rate , trying to fill in frames that the Blu-Ray is outputting. I won’t bore you- chances are you just want it fixed.
Fix Picture Quality Problem (Judder) in Blu-Ray Playback on PS3
Anyway- you can usually fix the problem fairly easily in your PS3 settings.
In PlayStation 3 system settings there is a setting called BD 1080p 24 hz Output (HDMI) it will likely be set to Automatic. Switch it to OFF.
This should work!
Let me know if you were able to fix it or if you have other suggestions for better picture quality playing Blu-Ray on your PlayStation 3

If you recently bought an HDTV and are setting up your home theater- you may have been pretty shocked to discover the cost of cables. At most stores HDMI cables- which you need for 1080p resolution high definition television, PS3, cable boxes or upconverting DVD players, and high definition DVD players ( Blue-Ray and HD DVD) you MUST have these. When we first brought our HDTV (an HP 5880 ) cables were in the 100.00 + range OUCH. They still are. Don;t pay for name brand cables- like Monster- they arent worth it.
The HDM cables here at monoprice.com will do the job- for under 10.00!
These are pretty hard to beat.
$6.52 or for 2- 5 of them $6.11 each.

I have been wanting an Ipod for as long as i can remember. Up until the Fall I had been using a 256 MB Samsung Yepp that I won 3 (4?) years ago. It suited me fine- I use it mostly to listen audio books.
Disaster struck when we were packing for a LONG drive and I couldn’t find my MP3 player anywhere… To make a long story short, I had to be a new one and spent many days- and hours- while on vacation looking a new new one. I ended up with Creative Zen V Plus 2 GB (White/Green). I was pretty happy with it- although it had more features than I wanted or really needed. I did find myself using if for music- it was great to plugin in outside by the pool, and I liked the size of it. It also played video but I almost never use that feature. 4 weeks later it fell out of the card and was run over the next morning when my husband went off to work.
ARGH. I had grown to love that little things.. and also had bought lots of accessories for it
Too make this long story short- I ended up getting an Ipod non ( 3rd generation) last week. I was so excited. Then I started to use it. I hated it. I hated itunes. I hated the little dial. I could never find anything. It was TOO small. I worried about the screen all the time. I hated itunes. Did I mention I HATE itunes?
I am returning it today. I am looking the NEW Creative ZEN 4 gig (Black) with SD slot and also a Zune.. which I found online for 100.00 (30 gigs) but I think it might be a bit large.
I am also just thinking about replacing the one that got crushed. There are just WAY too many choices.
